Lágrimas del cielo
Pasa el tiempo y no te veo
El cielo se oscurece
Y gotas de tristeza
Empiezan a caer
Veo el cielo y la lluvia cae
Y no estas a mi lado
Triste soledad, mi cielo
Aunque seas mía, no lo eres
¡Mujer!
This was originally going to be a bachata. I already had “Mírame” well underway when, out of the sea of AI, came a bolero version, with a classic sound and a melancholy that couldn’t just be waved off. I didn’t have the discipline to pick one over the other, so I let both exist.
I was struck by how the message can change depending on the musical genre. Unlike “Mírame,” in “Lágrimas del cielo” the emotion carried is bitter, pure undiluted heartbreak, dressed musically in the line “¡Mujer! ¡Mujer hermosa mírame!” with a melody that carries both bitterness and elegance at once.
With that said, let yourself be carried by the melancholy, turn up the volume, and enjoy “Lágrimas del cielo.”
