This vallenato, pure gold for dedicating to the owner of your heart, was born while I was exploring the musical rhythms of Colombia’s northern coast. Improvising verses for the lyrics, images of natural pairs whose romantic union feels inevitable suddenly started surfacing: the Moon with the Sun, the sand with the sea, the river with the jungle. And if those unions are inevitable, why shouldn’t the bond with the woman I love be inevitable too?
The lyrics evolved into a chain of images celebrating the beauty of the woman I love, dragging along all the emotions of being in love, with a fresh feeling that evokes the landscapes of Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
With that groundwork, out of the sea of Artificial Intelligence came a melody just as smitten, answering the emotional weight of the lyrics. Even so, the post-production work wasn’t easy. The song required fusing the best audio takes, plenty of adjustments and corrections (the “Ay ombes,” for instance, are placed down to the millisecond), until the gem was finally polished to a shine.
